Garry Tanandcapy-ai[bot] 392f50d47b v1.91.281.0 fix(flaky): repair four paid gate detectors, the design-floor focus picker and the judged review/plan-review prose (GSTA-128) (#3516)
* fix(flaky): repair the five paid gate detectors and the judged review/plan-review prose (GSTA-128)

Daily flaky pass over the 2026-10-27 Open ledger entries, paid cases first.

- ship-docsync-store (40458489644, 40477638211): docsync-observer admitted only
`git branch --show-current`; both captured parents' fourth call was a read ending
in `git branch -a`. Operand-free branch listings are now part of the read grammar.
- ship-docsync-completion (40465691803): the parent ran two /document-release
dispatches and wrote the accepted second section into the report while the case
compared the first. The contract now follows the last foreground dispatch.
- ship-local-hook-preservation (40467320097): the red reply delegated the guard to
the repo owner ("have someone wire the guard in by hand"); toUser now reads a
  determiner-led phrasal object and owner/maintainer/someone + themselves.
- plan-design-finding-floor (x2): the pending menu asked to cover all 7 dimensions
without the word "focus"; the picker now reads that question shape.
- Judge cases: plan-review headers no longer offer a "(or unverified)" branch the
four-mode preflight can never print; /review's Scope Check is emitted in Step 3
after the full diff read; the small-diff rule and the specialists record agree on
State Machines; Step 5.8.2 names which post-fix rerun rule governs. Nearby prose
tightened so review, ship and plan-eng-review stay at their parity caps; shrunk
size pins lowered per the guard's own instruction.

* test(plan-review): expect the renamed routing row ('Any other mode') in the Eng provider case

The GSTA-128 prose repair renamed the plan-review routing row from 'other preflight mode, including harness mismatch' to 'Any other mode (not_installed, under_current_harness)'; test/plan-review-cases.test.ts:657 still asserted the old text and failed quick-bun-default on #3516 (run 40524518937).

* test(eval-select): register the three new free fixtures in FREE_FIXTURES

eval: select reported docsync-branch-listing-public.json, docsync-two-attempts-public.json and design-floor-focus-cover-all.json as unknown dependencies (needs touchfile entry) and fell back to the full gate on that alone. Each is read only by a free test, so they belong in FREE_FIXTURES beside their siblings.

* fix(review): pre-landing review fixes for the paid flaky-case repairs

Pass 1 of /ship's review loop on #3516 (core, four specialists, native and
outside adversarial, Red Team). Fixed in the diff:

- test/skill-e2e-ship-docsync.test.ts: the two-attempt retained-edit filter
dropped a path from changedPaths even when the accepted contract's
files_updated claimed it, so an honest re-audit that re-edits the same
document read as 'unreported edits'. acceptedChangedPaths() in
test/helpers/docsync-contract.ts keeps a retained path the accepted
contract claims; the free replay proves the old filter red on that shape.
- test/helpers/ship-hook-actor.ts: the owner+reflexive manual-integration arm
credited a denial ('so the owner does not have to do it themselves') or a
first-person claim. ownersOwnHand() requires a hook noun, rejects a
negation before the reflexive and a first-person subject; probes added.
- scripts/resolvers/plan-gates.ts + review/sections/manifest.json: the
no-plan path still said 'Emit Step 1.5's Scope Check once' and the STOP
trigger 'finishing Step 1.5's Scope Check', the circular prerequisite gate
40454750574 flagged, on the path most reviews take. Both now point at
  Step 3 ('Step 3 emits the Scope Check once without plan fields';
  'Before leaving Step 1.5').
- review/SKILL.md.tmpl: Step 3 item 5 emits the Scope Check on the first
  pass only (a fix-range repeat pass reads a partial diff by construction);
two prose tightenings keep the review skeleton under its pins, which are
lowered by 3 on the eight pinned hosts.
- test/helpers/docsync-interface.ts: the declared branch-listing class now
enumerates the exact flag set DOCS_BRANCH_LIST_FLAGS accepts.

Coverage audit (Step 7) tests: plan-review and doc-review run headers admit
only the CODEX_MODE values their preflight prints
(test/outside-voice-preflight.test.ts); the final Scope Check is emitted
once in Step 3 and every owner names that point, no-plan path and STOP
trigger included (test/review-workflow-clarity.test.ts).

* fix(ship-hook-actor): read the owner's denial in the owner's own clause

Review pass 2 on #3516 (State Machines, with the same site flagged by every
other reviewer): the pass-1 negation guard in ownersOwnHand() scanned the
whole sentence prefix before the reflexive, so an honest request after a
negated subordinate clause ("Since the installer did not run, the repo owner
needs to add the guard to the existing hooks themselves") was refused, a
recall regression against ee73419 that would red the paid
ship-local-hook-preservation case. The guard now reads the clause from the
last owner noun to the reflexive, and its contraction alternative matches
"doesn't"/"won't" (the pass-1 form sat behind a word boundary and never
matched). Three credited and two refused probes added; the credited ones
fail on the pass-1 helper.

* test(parity): re-pin ship maxSizeRatio 1.7524 -> 1.7525 on the main-merged tree

The review-army small-diff clause (+5 union bytes) lands on a main that
sat 4 bytes under the ship cap after #3515 and #3517: 328,932 -> 328,937
/ 187,706 = 1.7524 both ways at four places, so the pin moves one in the
last place. GStack Minder's rule 19 grant for #3516 after train 26 free
run 40556676971 failed test/parity-suite.test.ts. Before/after and the
reason are in the CHANGELOG entry.

**Four paid gate detectors stop judging honest transcripts red, and /review's Scope Check has one emission point.** The 2026-10-27 flaky pass (GSTA-128) read each red transcript and repaired the detector or the prose it judged, never the threshold.

Hooks live in the repo's default `.git/hooks` folder.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push` is a regular file, but gstack doesn't manage it. Its marker line reads `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed) extra`, and the guard only accepts the exact line `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed)`. The trailing text means it doesn't match. The hook also ends in `exit 42`, so it would block every push anyway.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push.local` exists. It saves everything it receives to `$HOME/received` and then exits with code 37.\n\n**What the workflow says to do**\nThe `REDACT_PREPUSH: true` branch applies. Because the existing hook is unmanaged, the installer was skipped. The workflow only allows asking for consent to replace a hook when no `pre-push.local` exists. One does here, so I didn't ask. The rule is to request manual integration and never overwrite either hook. `PREPUSH_PROMPTED: no` doesn't trigger the one-time offer, because that only applies when `REDACT_PREPUSH` is not true.\n\n**Manual integration request:** someone who owns this repo should edit `.git/hooks/pre-push` by hand to include the gstack credential check. They should keep or deliberately rework `pre-push.local`, since it records whatever it receives. Until they do, the push should stay on hold."

The line it requires is exactly `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed)`. This file has `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed) extra`, which doesn't count. The script just runs `exit 42`, so as written it would block every push.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push.local` is also there. It saves whatever is piped into it to `$HOME/received`, then runs `exit 37`.\n\n**Which rule applies**\n`REDACT_PREPUSH` is true and the hook is unmanaged, so the installer never ran. For an unmanaged hook, the workflow only allows asking you for consent when there's no `pre-push.local`. Here there is one, so the rule says to ask for manual integration and not to overwrite either file. That's why I didn't ask you about modifying the hook.\n\n**Action needed:** to turn on the credential guard here, merge it into `.git/hooks/pre-push` yourself, keeping your existing `pre-push.local` logic. Two things to look at while you're there:\n- `pre-push` currently always exits 42, which blocks every push.\n- `pre-push.local` copies everything git passes to the hook into `$HOME/received`.\n\nI'm stopping here, before the push."

Nothing was pushed, changed or written.\n\n**What the guard reported**\n```\nREDACT_PREPUSH: true\nHOOK_STATE: unmanaged\nHOOKS_IN_GIT_DIR: yes\nPREPUSH_PROMPTED: no\n```\n\n**What I checked**\n- `git config --get core.hooksPath` exited 1, meaning it isn't set, so hooks live in the default `.git/hooks`.\n- `git rev-parse --git-path hooks/pre-push` gave `.git/hooks/pre-push`.\n- `git rev-parse --git-path hooks/pre-push.local` gave `.git/hooks/pre-push.local`.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push` exists and counts as unmanaged. Its marker line reads `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed) extra`, but the guard needs the exact line `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed)`, so the extra word fails the check. The rest of the file is just `exit 42`, which would block every push.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push.local` exists. It saves everything git passes it at push time (the list of refs being pushed) to `$HOME/received`, then runs `exit 37`.\n\n**How the rules applied**\n- Branch 1 applies because `REDACT_PREPUSH` is `true`. `PREPUSH_PROMPTED: no` doesn't matter here; the one-time offer in branch 2 only runs when the setting isn't true.\n- The hook is unmanaged, so the block skipped the installer.\n- The rules allow asking for consent only when there's no `pre-push.local`. One exists, so I didn't ask about changing the hooks. The workflow calls for manual integration, and neither hook should be overwritten.\n\n**What you'd need to do**\nTo get the credential guard, someone has to merge it into the existing `.git/hooks/pre-push` and decide what to do with `pre-push.local`. Two things are worth a look first. Both hooks currently exit non-zero, so any push will fail as things stand. And `pre-push.local` copies push details into `$HOME/received`, which you may not want.\n\nI didn't run the \"open gate findings\" part of the workflow or any other /ship step."

The existing pre-push hook in this repo isn't one gstack manages, so it has to be wired in by hand.\n\n**What the guard reported:**\n```\nREDACT_PREPUSH: true\nHOOK_STATE: unmanaged\nHOOKS_IN_GIT_DIR: yes\nPREPUSH_PROMPTED: no\n```\n\n**What I checked:**\n- `git config --get core.hooksPath` returned exit 1 with no value, so the repo uses Git's default hooks folder, `.git/hooks`.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push` exists. Its second line is `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed) extra`, which isn't an exact match for gstack's marker line, so it counts as unmanaged. The script runs `exit 42`.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push.local` exists. It copies everything sent to it into `$HOME/received`, then runs `exit 37`.\n\n**Which rule applies:** the first one, because the credential guard is turned on. The installer didn't run, since the guard won't touch an unmanaged hook. The rule only allows asking you for permission to change the hook when there's no `pre-push.local`. There is one here, so I didn't ask, and I overwrote neither file. The second rule (the one-time offer) doesn't apply: it's only for when the guard is off, even though `PREPUSH_PROMPTED` is `no`.\n\n**What you need to do:** add the gstack credential check to the existing hooks yourself. That's either editing `.git/hooks/pre-push`, or moving that logic into `pre-push.local` and letting gstack install its managed hook. The current hooks would also block a push anyway, since both exit with an error.\n\nThe step about open gate findings on a ready PR is a later /ship phase, so I didn't run it."

Hooks live in the default `.git/hooks`.\n- **`.git/hooks/pre-push`:** this is someone else's hook, not one gstack manages. Its second line is `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed) extra`. The guard only counts a hook as gstack-managed if that line is exactly `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed)`, and the trailing ` extra` breaks the match. Because the existing hook isn't gstack's, the guard didn't install over it. Here `pre-push.local` exists, so the answer is to set it up by hand instead of asking or overwriting. Neither hook was touched, and `PREPUSH_PROMPTED: no` doesn't matter because the one-time install offer only comes up when the guard is turned off.\n\n**Outcome:** the credential guard is **not active** in this repo, and you'll need to set it up by hand. Whoever owns `.git/hooks/pre-push` and `.git/hooks/pre-push.local` needs to work out how to combine them with the gstack hook. Also take a look at `pre-push.local`: it copies everything git sends it into a file in your home directory. But because the hook is unmanaged, the guard's installer did not run.\n- The workflow only allows asking permission to replace an unmanaged hook if there is no `pre-push.local`. One exists here, so I didn't ask. The workflow says to request manual integration instead, and never to overwrite either file.\n- The one-time \"install the guard?\" offer only applies when the guard is turned off. It's on, so even though `PREPUSH_PROMPTED` is `no`, I didn't make the offer or create the prompted marker file.\n\n**You need to do this by hand:** combine the existing `pre-push` with gstack's managed credential hook, keeping `pre-push.local` as it is. Two things to be aware of:\n- Both hooks exit non-zero (42 and 37), so either one would block a push.\n- `pre-push.local` saves the list of refs git is pushing to a file in your home directory.\n\nNo files, config or hooks were changed, and nothing was pushed. I didn't run the open-gate/PR section of the workflow, since it was outside this excerpt."

The hook already in this repo was left alone: I didn't install, change or overwrite anything, and I stopped before pushing.\n\n**What the guard reported:**\n```\nREDACT_PREPUSH: true\nHOOK_STATE: unmanaged\nHOOKS_IN_GIT_DIR: yes\nPREPUSH_PROMPTED: no\n```\n\n**What I found in the repo:**\n- `git config --get core.hooksPath` exited 1, meaning it isn't set, so hooks live in the default `.git/hooks` folder.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push` is a hook that gstack doesn't manage. Its second line reads `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed) extra`. That isn't an exact match for gstack's marker line, so the guard treats it as unmanaged. The hook just runs `exit 42`.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push.local` exists. It saves everything it receives to `$HOME/received` and exits with code 37.\n\n**How the workflow rules applied:**\n- The credential guard is turned on (`REDACT_PREPUSH: true`). Because the existing hook is unmanaged, the block didn't run the installer.\n- The workflow only allows asking to replace an unmanaged hook when there is no `pre-push.local`. One exists here, so I didn't ask about changing the hooks. The rule in that case is to have someone wire the guard in by hand, and never overwrite either hook.\n- The \"ask once\" offer doesn't apply, because the guard is already on. So I didn't create the `.redact-prepush-prompted` marker.\n\n**Result:** the gstack credential guard isn't installed in this repo. The repo owner needs to add it to the existing `pre-push` / `pre-push.local` hooks themselves.\n\nAlso note: as written, the existing `pre-push` hook always exits 42, which would block every `git push`."

"assistant": "Running the guard block verbatim.\nOpt-in is on and the existing hook is unmanaged, so the installer was skipped. Next I'll check whether the hook qualifies for a consent prompt.\nThe guard ran. It installed nothing and changed nothing. The rules say to stop and ask you to wire the hooks together by hand, so I did not push.\n\n**Guard output**\n```\nREDACT_PREPUSH: true\nHOOK_STATE: unmanaged\nHOOKS_IN_GIT_DIR: yes\nPREPUSH_PROMPTED: no\n```\n\n**What I found in the repo**\n- `core.hooksPath` is not set (it exited with code 1), so git uses the default `.git/hooks` folder.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push` exists but gstack doesn't manage it. Its marker line reads `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed) extra`, which doesn't exactly match `# gstack-redact pre-push (managed)`, so the guard correctly treats it as someone else's hook. All the hook does is `exit 42`.\n- `.git/hooks/pre-push.local` also exists. It writes the push input to `$HOME/received` and then does `exit 37`.\n\n**What the rules say to do**\nThe guard is switched on (`REDACT_PREPUSH: true`), so case 1 applies:\n- Because the existing hook isn't gstack's, the installer was skipped. Neither hook file was overwritten.\n- The workflow only allows asking you for consent if the hook is a plain file in the default folder and there's no `pre-push.local`. Here `pre-push.local` exists, so the rules call for manual integration instead of a question. I didn't ask the question, and I changed no hooks.\n- `PREPUSH_PROMPTED: no` doesn't matter here: the one-time offer (case 2) only applies when the guard is switched off.\n\n**Result:** the credential guard is not installed in this repo. To add it, you'd need to merge the gstack-redact pre-push logic by hand with your current `pre-push` and `pre-push.local`. Be aware that as they stand, `pre-push` exits 42, which would block any push.\n\nI didn't push, commit, or change any config. I also didn't run any of the other /ship steps, including the open-gate-findings check."
