scripts/sync_c2pa_soft_bindings.py --check hits api.github.com to resolve
the latest upstream commit SHA, unauthenticated. That endpoint's 60/hour
rate limit is per source IP, which GitHub Actions runners exhaust fast
since many workflows share the runner IP pool -- this was failing the
lint job with "403: rate limit exceeded" on every push regardless of
whether the change touched anything related.
Send an Authorization: Bearer header built from GITHUB_TOKEN/GH_TOKEN
when set, scoped to api.github.com only (raw.githubusercontent.com is a
separate, much higher-limit CDN and doesn't need it). Wire the workflow's
own GITHUB_TOKEN secret into that step's env so CI actually has one to
send, raising the limit to 5000/hour.

The video full-clip job needs ffmpeg from Ubuntu's own repositories, but its
apt-get update refreshed every source on the runner image, so a broken
third-party index failed the job twice on 2026-09-09: google-chrome.list
served a Hash Sum mismatch (bc1428ab... against 233e56de...) and both the run
and its rerun died at Install ffmpeg with ten otherwise-green jobs around
them. Remove every non-Ubuntu source definition from
/etc/apt/sources.list.d before updating, so no vendor's broken index can
fail a step that never needed it. The only apt-get in the workflows.
pre-commit: 1) maintain.sh - exit 2 at the uv-secure gate, the three triaged
no-fix advisories in docs/development.md (rechecked 2026-09-09 against PyPI);
ruff check+format clean, pyright src/ 0 errors, 2368 passed 3 skipped run
separately, same gate run as the preceding commit with no post-gate edit
between them; 2) /simplify - single pass, no fan-out available, no findings;
3) docs sync - grepped apt-get/google-chrome/Install ffmpeg across docs/,
README, .claude/rules/, tests/: no other references, the rationale lives in
the step's comment; 4) CLAUDE.md - audited against the structure rule, no
additions, revise-claude-md: no additions
The HF Space step curled the root for HTTP 200 and then emitted a warning
and SUCCEEDED when it never got one. The documented contract was three other
checks entirely: the requirements pin, the runtime stage, and live identify
and visible calls. None was implemented, which is why the demo sat two
releases behind while every verification run stayed green. Implemented all
three; the pin check fails today, correctly, on 0.34.1 against 0.36.0.
The ComfyUI step read the latest run of the node repo's sync workflow. That
workflow also runs on a daily schedule, so a green nightly satisfied it
whether or not this release was ever synced. The registry does publish a JSON
API, contrary to the comment that justified the proxy, so read the node
directly and assert the active version declares this library release.
Both of those steps warned and continued; only Homebrew failed hard. Now all
of them exit non-zero, and the summary is assembled from lines each step
appends as it passes rather than an unconditional block that claimed five
verified surfaces regardless.
No step needs the GitHub token any more, so pin least-privilege permissions
here and in test.yml.

The probe shipped with no tests while every sibling research script has them,
and it needs neither a model nor a GPU, so nothing justified the gap. Its whole
output is a ranking and a mispaired comparison still prints a plausible number,
so the pairing tests carry more weight than the metric ones.
The centerpiece builds a correctly phased and a wrong-phased delivery of the
same clip. Both have six frames, so the frame-count check the probe used to rely
on passes for both; the misaligned one scores near 9 dB against 40+. A separate
assertion pins that the probe binds the engine's sampler rather than a copy,
which is the contract a same-phase private copy would otherwise satisfy
silently. This file now holds the only constraint on that sampler's phase.
CI ran none of this. The test matrix installs no ffmpeg, and the job that does
install it ran one class from another file, so five of these tests would have
skipped on every runner. The video-e2e job now collects this file too.
Recorded in .claude/rules/development.md: mutating the sampler's >= to > proves
nothing, because the 1e-9 epsilon makes both branches agree on exact equality.
The phase or the period is what has to move. That inert mutation passed a green
suite here before the real one failed five tests.
Dropped the downscale test's PSNR bound: solid colors survive both the downscale
and the upscale exactly, so any score there pins the local ffmpeg's chroma
rounding rather than the probe. Geometry is the assertion that means something.

* Add cross-platform CI test matrix, PyPI classifiers
CI: new test.yml runs lint (ubuntu) + a test matrix (ubuntu/macos/windows
x py3.10/3.12, core+dev, GPU tests skip) on push to main and PRs, closing the
gap where only the release publish.yml ran (ubuntu, no tests). Add PyPI
classifiers (OS/Python/topic). README Tests badge, CLAUDE.md CI note.

* Make availability tests reflect installed deps, not assume gpu extra
The new core+dev CI matrix has no diffusers, so the invisible-engine
availability tests (asserting is_available() is True unconditionally) and the
two mocked invisible CLI tests (whose command gates on is_available before the
mock) failed. Assert availability == actual importability of torch+diffusers,
and patch the CLI availability gate so the mocked-engine tests run regardless of
the gpu extra.
